It's been several years since one of our valued supporters generously donated a desktop computer to Abba Father's House.
This computer has served us well, handling administrative tasks, reports, and emails, but is no longer usable. We're now in need of a replacement desktop computer. We prefer desktops over laptops because they are less portable, reducing the risk of theft, and less sought after, making them harder to sell on the black market. On a positive note the screen is still working perfectly, so it's only the actual desktop computer that's needed.
Fortunately, Uganda's electrical supply is compatible with the UK's, making it easier to source a new desktop from here. Some may suggest importing a used desktop or purchasing one locally, but we're hesitant due to Uganda's strict regulations on used electronics causing e-waste issues, and the prevalence of low-quality, counterfeit equipment in the local market. We're looking to purchase a new desktop in the UK and we have someone visiting Abba Father's House in April, who can bring it as luggage, saving on transportation costs. However, we will still need to pay import taxes and duties. In addition we will need to get the necessary software installed.
Are you able to help us with the cost of the desktop computer? We have set up a collections page here if you can.
God bless from the team at Abba Father's House.
