It seems like every day something happens that requires urgent attention!
On Monday Juliet received a message from the workers at Abba Father's House together with a picture. The message said "Mama this is a serious hazard at home". The picture showed a pole which had been badly rotted or eaten at its base.
This isn't just any old pole but one of the poles which carry the electricity wires into Abba Father's House, so if this came down it would be extremely dangerous.
Juliet immediately got in contact with the electricity supplier, a company called Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited - UEDCL https://www.uedcl.co.ug/. They are a fairly new company with responsibility for supplying electricity and maintenance of the distribution infrastructure. First contact wasn't good. They wanted AFH to pay for the pole as they will only attend when the pole falls to the ground. Obviously this isn't right or just so as Trustees we prayed for God's favour in this situation.
One of the staff, Josephine who was attending hospital with one of the children was close by the offices of UEDCL so we asked her to stop by and try to resolve the issue. Juliet also wrote them a strongly worded email. We thought we were in for a protracted fight over this!
Today we received another message from the staff at AFH, the pole was replaced this very morning! Praise God for his provision! What we also learnt was that one of the company bosses attended on site which protected us from being asked for a bribe! Praise God for his blessings!
